The full story

Lexi is our beautiful 2-year-old Cavapoo, who is usually full of life, energy and love.

What started as a normal day quickly turned into every dog owner’s worst nightmare.

Lexi was simply playing with her brother when she suddenly stopped playing. At first, we didn’t realise how serious things were, but shortly afterwards, she began struggling to walk. Her back legs became increasingly weak until she was unable to use either of them.

We rushed to get veterinary help and were told that Lexi was suspected to have a slipped disc in her spine. Her condition was serious, and she was also unable to empty her bladder independently.

We were devastated when we learned that she would likely need emergency spinal surgery, initially estimated to cost between £7,000 and £10,000.

Thankfully, we found Elizavet, where Lexi was examined by Dr Dario Ambrogio. He confirmed that she still had deep pain sensation in both back legs, which was an encouraging sign. He estimated that she had an 80–90% chance of walking again with surgery.

On 9 October 2026, Lexi underwent spinal surgery. During her treatment, it was confirmed that she had two slipped discs, both of which were operated on successfully.

Her surgeon called afterwards to tell us that the operation had gone well, her vital signs were great, and she was being cared for by the veterinary nurses while waking up from the anaesthetic.

We know Lexi has a long road to recovery ahead of her, and we don’t yet know how quickly she will regain movement. But we’re incredibly grateful that she has been given this chance.

Lexi is more than just a pet. She’s part of our family, and we love her beyond words.

Although Lexi has now had her surgery, our fundraising journey is far from over. We are still desperately trying to raise enough money to pay off the cost of her operation and veterinary treatment. Giving Lexi this chance was a decision we made out of love, but the financial burden is incredibly overwhelming.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help us towards covering her medical bills. And if you’re unable to donate, simply sharing Lexi’s story could make such a difference.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, sent kind messages or kept our little girl in their thoughts. Your kindness means more to us than words can express.

Our little girl has made it through surgery. Now we’re hoping to see her walk again. ❤️🐶🐾

Please help us give Lexi the future she deserves. ❤️
