Unique is only 3 years old. One day he was completely normal, running, playing, full of energy, and within 24 hours he could barely stand without crying. Watching that happen so suddenly was devastating.
Our vet suspects IVDD and recommended an MRI with possible emergency surgery. The hospital requires the full $10,000 estimate as a deposit before they will move forward. Right now he’s on strict crate rest and medication, and we are in the tapering phase. I have to monitor him closely to see if the medication has been masking the severity of the injury. If his pain returns, surgery will need to happen quickly.
We’ve raised $3,466 so far, but after recheck appointments, medications, and purchasing a Help ‘Em Up harness to physically support him, the available funds are lower than it appears. I’m doing everything I can because he deserves a real chance at walking again.
The hardest part is that he still looks at me like he wants to run. He doesn’t understand why his body isn’t cooperating. He’s so young, and I just want to give him the chance to have his life back.
