Help Enzo Get the Care He Needs

Enzo is a three-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality and plenty of energy. He loves running around with his brothers, playing with his family, and being wherever the action is. And when he smells food, he comes running, ready for his share.

For Javier and his family, Enzo is a beloved part of everyday life—a loving little dog with so much spirit.

Then, within a matter of hours, everything changed.

Javier noticed that Enzo was whining and having trouble settling down. His restlessness soon progressed to something much more frightening: he could no longer walk using his two hind legs.

Javier rushed Enzo to Arizona Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center (AVECCC), where, according to Javier, the veterinary team diagnosed him with intervertebral disc disease, or IVDD. The family was told Enzo might need surgery, with an estimated cost of $10,000–$12,000.

Faced with that unexpected expense, Javier and his family are reaching out for help. They want to give Enzo the care he needs, but the potential cost of surgery is beyond what they can afford.

“He’s still a baby, and he has a lot of spirit and life in him,” Javier shared.

Only recently, Enzo was racing around with his brothers and eagerly joining his family at mealtimes. Now, his family is facing difficult decisions while trying to understand his condition and find a way to cover his care.
